Do this week
Look at Organic Search on its first-touch number before you touch next month's budget.
The plumbing is fixed, so this is the first week your numbers are worth arguing with. Direct is credited with $4.5k, 44% of everything, and started almost none of it. Nine people genuinely arrived with no referrer. The rest had already met you through search or that newsletter, sometimes weeks earlier, and came back by typing your name. Search started $4.8k of revenue and gets credited with $2.2k.
What we’ve talked about
we're killing the free trial on the 12th, want to see if it changes anything
how's the trial thing looking so far?
Too early. Four days after a pricing change tells you about the weekend, not the change. Ask me again after the 26th and I will have something worth saying.
sent it twice this week like you said. feels like a lot, worried people will unsubscribe
Two sends, four unsubscribes, and revenue per send held. That is not a list getting tired. I watch the unsubscribe rate as well as the revenue, and I will tell you when the first one starts moving before the second does.
found it, the address form on mobile was rejecting valid postcodes. fixed this morning
That explains a flat line rather than a slow decline, which is what I was seeing. I will watch mobile conversion for a fortnight and tell you whether it moved, or whether the form was only part of it.
thinking about putting $2k into LinkedIn ads next month
Before you do: paid social has started $1.4k of revenue this month and search has started $4.8k on a fraction of the attention. LinkedIn might work, but it would be your fourth channel while your first is underfunded. If you want to try it anyway, cap it at $500 so one bad month cannot teach you the wrong lesson.
